The endocrine system
The glands that release hormones into the blood are, in yogic thought, closely linked with the chakras. Pranvakshar Dhyan aims to bring their secretions into balance.
why the glands matter
Most physical illnesses are linked with imbalances in the hormones that the glands secrete. When the energy centres are gently awakened through Om, practitioners report steadier moods and better sleep. In Pranvakshar’s understanding, this reflects the regulation of hormones such as endorphins, dopamine and serotonin.
Explore which gland pairs with which chakra on the Pranvakshar Dhyan page.

The brain and nervous system
The brain processes an enormous stream of information every day, and modern life easily overloads it. The autonomic nervous system works without our command, yet it responds deeply to emotion and meditation.
two hemispheres in harmony
Chanting Om in its three lengths (short, long and prolonged) is understood to help both hemispheres of the brain work in a balanced, coordinated way, and to calm the autonomic nervous system. That is why a few minutes of Om can bring such noticeable relief from tension.
See how unresolved tension travels through the body in the stress chain.
Teachings
Om and the Mandukya Upanishad
A classic explanation of AUM and the states of consciousness from the Yoga-Vedanta tradition.

Diagrams of the subtle body
Our original blog also collected diagrams of the nervous system, the endocrine glands, the “spiritual anatomy” of the chakras, the seven energy points of the human body and the spiritual centre of the mind. Those images belonged to other publishers, so we have recreated their teaching as interactive tools:
Chakras & glands
The seven energy points and the glands linked with each.
Layers of mind
Conscious, subconscious, unconscious and superconscious.
The stress chain
How tension moves through mind, nerves and body.
